I've lived in 3 different western countries that are considered international countries, which means I've been around people from all across the world. However, I'm back in Africa for now. That being said, I have to say in my personal opinion, the Jamaican accent is the best and it's my favorite accent. In addition, there's no way I'm going to stay in Jamaican and not perfect my knowledge of the Jamaican Patois before moving on to the next country. Suffice to say that it's a lovely broken English spoken with a lovely accent and this is enough reason for me to visit Jamaica❤

Dialect or language? If you can understand what is said and what you say is understood, then it‘s one language. There are geographical situations we call „dialect continua“. That would be e.g. a string of dialects from dialect „a“ to dialect „z“. Like in Germany from Hamburg in the north (dialect „a“) to Munich in the south (dialect „s“). „a“-speakers can communicate with neighboring „b“-speakers and „b“-speakers can communicate with „c“ speakers. We could conclude: „a“ to „c“ is a language. In fact it stretches even further because in that example „a“-speakers can communicate with „s“-speakers. And still it goes on until somewhere in Switzerland it stops. „x“-speakers cannot communicate with „y“-speakers. That‘s where the German language ends. Now what if „m“-speakers can communicate with „a“-speakers and with „o“-speakers, but „o“-speakers cannot communicate with „a“-speakers. What is the language then? As it is often the case concepts have been set at a time when relatively little was known. As knowledge grows they should be discarded or being restricted to the realms they are apt for.
